Description and application
The SJ series self-priming centrifugal pumps handle turbid, muddy and sandy liquids and liquids carrying solids. They can be driven by three-phase electric motors or by diesel engines, standard or silenced. The impeller is an open-vane type in spheroidal cast iron or in steel, with a large passage for solids.
The wear plates are easily replaced and are made of steel or cast iron, while the casing is cast iron.
The mechanical axial seal is lubricated from the outside and can run dry, even with strongly abrasive liquids.
Priming works by drawing the air in the suction pipe into the pump, where it mixes with the liquid held in the casing. The air and liquid mixture is pushed into the priming chamber, where the lighter air separates and leaves through the delivery pipe while the heavier liquid falls back into circulation. Once all the air has been expelled from the suction line the pump primes and runs as a centrifugal pump.
